  • The Big Trail

    The Big Trail
    Plot:
'Breck leads a wagon train of pioneers through Indian attack, storms, deserts, swollen rivers, down cliffs and so on while looking for the murder of a trapper and falling in love with Ruth.'- IMBD From the poster, it is clear that the cowboy hats, guns and hero were important signifiers even from 1930. The yellowy, orange colour scheme is also present, but the setting of the film is not so clear in this poster. Also, the cowboy is the highest object in the poster to show his authority.
  • High Noon

    High Noon
    Plot:
'On the day he gets married and hangs up his badge, lawman Will Kane is told that a man he sent to prison years before, Frank Miller, is returning on the noon train to exact his revenge. Having initially decided to leave with his new spouse, Will decides he must go back and face Miller.'- IMBD This poster starts to show some of the setting of the film, an old fashioned town. Again, it shows cowboys, hats and guns and the characters seem of high status. This is from low camera angles.
  • Pale Rider

    Pale Rider
    Plot:
'A gold mining camp in the California foothills is besieged by a neighboring landowner intent on stealing their claims. A preacher rides into camp and uses all of his powers of persuasion to convince the landowner to give up his attacks on the miners.' -IMDB The sepia colour scheme is much more obvious here as the whole poster is an arange colour. A close up of the main character is shown and a smaller image of some other cowboys standing in an old town. Clint Eastwood is a western actor
  • Django Unchained

    Django Unchained
    Plot:
'Former dentist Dr King Schultz, buys the freedom of a slave, Django, and trains him with the intent to make him his deputy bounty hunter. Instead, he is led to the site of Django's wife who is under the hands of Calvin Candie, a ruthless plantation owner.'- IMDB This poster has a different colour scheme to the others. Instead of sepia colours it has a simple black, white and red. It still has the common cowboys, hats, guns and low angle shots to show authority. No setting is shown in it.
