It all started when President Jefferson offered to buy New Orleans from France. France needed money for war so they asked if they wanted the whole Louisiana three cents per acre and added up to $15 million. So on the day of April 30 1803 the United States grew larger taking over the Louisiana. Jefferson could of been impeached for what he had done

The Lewis And Clark Journey
Jefferson picked captain Meiwether Lewis and Lieutenant William Clark a map maker to go on the journey with him. They faced challenges such as Native Americans, Starvation, climate, wildlife. Nobody thought that they would survive the long journey but they did from St.Louis to Fort Clatsop in Oregon area. it is important becuase nobody new what was all in that population. Nat Turner's Slave Rebelion
Turner led a group of slaves killing 55 white Virginians. it was the bloodiest slave rebelion in American History. This act had impact on other platations becuase whites killed 200 African Americans in revenge, the state of Virginia made harsh laws to limit the freedom of both free and enslaved African Americans. So it had a big impact on other slaves.

Texas Revolution
Americans were unhappy with the Mexican laws. Slve owners were mad becuase Mexico outlawed slavery in 1829. Texas wanted to become there own state and have their own government.

The Trail of tears
2,000 Cherokees were forced to leave their homes from Americans. they had a treaty and preident Jackson broke the treaty and made them move. The Cherokee was forced at gun point sometimes to leave their homes. Cherokee tried fighting through it by going through the Supreme Court and they agreed with the Cherkee but Jackson still made them leave anyway. they made them do this for more land and they didnt want to work around them. The War with Mexico
on the day of April 25, 1846 the Mexico unit crossed the Rio Grande ambushed and American patrol.They sent a message saying that they have come into their territory. Congress declared war on Mexico.

The California Gold Rush
In 1849 James Marshall discovered a little gold nugget. James sent a box of gold dust as proof that all the gold could pay the cost of the war with Mexico. Thousands of pople from all over the world came for the California Gold Rush. It made jobs for people to make the tools that dig up the gold so it made money for people and the population was getting bigger becuase people from around the world were coming. The Fugitive Slave Act was a law that fugitives could be held with out and arrest warrant. Southern slave catures where aloud to go to the North and and capture ranaway slaves and sometimes caught free African Americans. Bleeding Kansas
During the election of 1855 there was more proslavery then antislavery in Kansas Territory. Missouri voted illegally, settlers on both sides armed themselves. in May a proslavery mob attacked the town of Lawrence, Kansas. John Brown a abolitionist led seven men in massacre of of five of his proslavery neighbors. The attack is known of Potawatomie Massacre. That attack led to the Civil War in Kansas.
