  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    In Massachusetts, taxes were raised on farmers. The farmers were poor, so they didn't have much money to use towards taxes. When the farmers learned about this they decided to seize weapons and march on Boston.
  • Whiskey Rebellion

    Whiskey Rebellion
    The tax on the manufacturing of whiskey was raised, and farmers in Pennsylvania rebelled. They hurt tax collectors, stopped court proceedings, and robbed the mail. Washington eventually stopped this rebellion with the help of 13,000 troops.
  • Quasi War

    The Quasi War started because France was mad at the USA for making the "Favored Nation" treaty. They ended up seizing American ships. The whole entire war was just attacking ships.
  • XYZ Affair

    Congress decided to stop all trade with France since France was attacking American ships, and they sent representatives over to France to see if they could solve the problem. The French wouldn't talk unless the Americans paid them. This outraged the Americans.
  • Election of 1800

    Election of 1800
    The election of 1800 was between Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson. At first they ended up tying 73-73, so the House of Representatives had to vote on who they wanted as president. Thomas Jefferson won the vote, and Aaron Burr became his vice president.
