Liberation of Paris
After 4 year span of Nazi occupation, the French 2nd Armored Division and the U.S. 4th Infantry Division freed Paris. This was helped by the German general in duty (Dietrich von Choltitz) after defying and order given by Hitler to destroy Paris. Instead, the general signed a formal surrender.
