USS President vs HM Frigate Belvidera
The British were moving in to check out the American squadron, at which point they learned that war may have already been declared and that is when they see 3 large American Frigates, stirring there way. The British fell back and fired, but did little damage and on of the American ships, named the President, fired and did minor damage to the British ship, the Bellvidera. The British tried to repair their, but then realized it was irrepearable and thus change there course. -
U.S. General Hull invades Upper Canada at Sandwich across from Detroit
This is where the U.S. General Hull asked the upper residents of upper Canada to fight with the U.S. against the British. This is known as Hull's proclamation. -
British Forces from Fort Saint Joseph Captured Fort Michilimackinac
On the night of July 16th, the British landed and the next morning they were in position above the fort with cannons aimed down to it. Lieutenant Porter Hanks, American commander, had no even been warned by his government that they were declaring war. He had no choice but to surrender and agree to the British terms. -
Americans fail in capturing batteaux convey at Toussiant Island of the St. Lawrence River
A band of Americans coming acorss the river (this was the beginnig of the US raids) were fired upon by British gun boats and they retreated back to the U.S. side of the river. -
Battle of Queenston Heights and death of Brock and Macdonnell
This battle was fought because the Americans wanted to establish a foothold on the Canadian side of the Niagara River, before winter started. It was the first major battle of the war of 1812. Even though the Americans had the advantage over the British, they were unable to get most of their forces across the river which resulted in British victory. Hearing the gun shot at Queenston, Brock went towards the Americans who were shooting were he was injured in battle and died. -
Battle of Mississnewa
An army consisting of Dragoons and Mounted Infantry were lead by Campbell, on the U.S. side. The natives joined the british to stop his progess, to save their lifes and their winter food supply. The British won with the help of the native americans. -
British capture Ogdensburg, NY as retaliation for Brockville attack
During this battle, the British captured the village of Ogdensburg, NY. It stopped the American threat on British supplie lines for the rest of the war. -

This is where Laura Secord walks 20 miles to warn the British of the impending American attack, and thus the British won the battle. -

This took place in upper Canada, it resulted in the death of Tecumseh and destroyed the native american coalition, which then resulted in a decisive U.S. victory. -
American invasion attempt at Chateauguay repulsed
De Salaberry's claimed to fame happened in Chateaguay when he intercepted and turned the american troops that were advancing on Montreal. This resulted in a British victory. -
the Siege of Fort McHenry - Battle of Baltimore
It was a combined sea / land battle fought between British and American forces. The risistance of Fort McHenry insprired Francis Scott Key to compose a poem which later became the lyrics for the star spangled banner.
