  • Early 80s

    Early 80s
We got a Nintendo, because my brother was hyperactive, and our pediatrician told my mom that it would help.
  • Late 80s

    Late 80s
Mom got an Apple IIgs for her bookkeeping work for the home business, and sometimes let us play on it. I remember a very old game called Tass Times For Toon Town that we sometimes would play.
  • Late 80s

    Late 80s
Around the same time mom got her Apple, she picked up a coleco ADAM for me. I mostly used it for word processing as I also had a dot matrix printer that attached to it.
  • Early 90s

    Early 90s
Around this time, my parents got divorced, and I honestly think that mom was trying to buy us over to her side, because this was the year that I got a Sega GameGear with Mortal Kombat, something my mom had previously told me was "too violent"
  • Mid 90s - Post Divorce

    Mid 90s - Post Divorce
After the divorce was finalized, Mom moved us into an RV and to Montana. We didn't get to keep any of our electronics, except my brother got his game boy, and I got my game gear, and we were expected to share. During this time, we would go to the computer lab once a week, and I really enjoyed playing Oregon Trail.
  • Late 90s

    Late 90s
By the time I graduated high school in '98, my mom had gotten a computer running Win 95. She used the instant messaging app, ICQ, to keep in touch with her sisters since we were in OR, and they were in CA. The computer was on dial-up, and anytime you wanted to make a phone call, you had to kick the person on the computer off the internet. As a result, I tried not to use Mom's computer except late at night, and used the computers on campus instead.
  • First Marriage

    First Marriage
I got married to my first husband in 2000, and when we got our first apartment, we couldn't afford internet, so we hoarded AOL free trial CDs, jumping from 1 to the next when the first one expired
  • Divorce

    Divorce
In 2004 I seperated from my first husband, and a very close friend built me a computer from spare parts, including only having 156mb of RAM, on sims, rather than dims. It was so slow, I COULDN'T install windows on it, so I learned linux in the form of Ubuntu. I moved this PC down to Phoenix when I finally moved in 2006.
  • Leap into Gaming

    Leap into Gaming
In 2010, a friend introduced me into the world of online gaming, namely World of Warcraft, of which I still technically play, when I have time for it.
  • Today

    Today
I've had a lot of different technologies over the years, but the one I'm most excited about is the PC I helped my roommate build for myself, and the Chromebook I researched and purchased all on my own. I love that unlike my first heavy laptop, the chromebook is super lightweight and easy to carry around so that I can truly do my homework anywhere.
