Shel is born!
Shel was born in chicago on september 30,1930. His father was Nathan Silverstein. His mother was Helen silverstein. -
joining the army!
In 1950 Shel decided he wanted to serve his country. He was finally drafted in 1953. He served in Japan and Korea. -
The first book!
In 1955 he wrote the book Grab your Socks. The book was republsihed and republished many times before it was perfect. Through the years people have made new additions took the book which Shel didnt really mind. -
making cartoons in the army
He was in the army and started making diffrent cartoon drawings. He was discovered by Stars&Stripes magazine. He then came out of the army and started drawing cartoons. -
Music!
In 1959 Shel worte his first album. The album was Jazz and some pop. The album was called "Harry Jazz". -
Married and Divorced
She was married to the man of his dreams, Susan. They were living a long happy marriage. Everyone wondered how they did it. They had a beautiful little girl together. Then things went bad and they got divorced. Susan took Shoshanna and left. Shel was left with the house and his books. -

In 1963 Sheldon wrote a famous poetry book. It was called " Uncle shelbys stroy of laf cadio- The lion who shot back. It was very famous and he wany 3 awards for the book. -
Im having a baby girl!
In 1970 was one of the best days of Shel Silversteins life, he was having a baby girl! His Daughter was born healthy on June 30,1970. Shel and his wife Susan named her Shoshanna. -
A death
Susan died years after the divorce. Even though they were divorced it was very hard on Shel. He got Shoshanna, and shoshanna was only five so she didnt understand. She continued on and eventually found a new women and took care of Shoshanna as she grew up. -

In 1981 Shel worte a very famous childrens poetry book. It was calle a light in the attic. He won many award in that same year for a light in the attic and for falling up. -

In 1981 Shel wrote the book " the missing piece meets the big o'. The book was a sequel to " The missing piece". This was also a childrens poerty book. The book ahd many illustrations and Shel was congradulated by many people for how good it was. -
Im having a baby boy!
The year 1984 was a great day Shel is having a boy! The boy was born in 1984 and was very healthy. Shel named him Matthew. -

In 1990 Shel worte the poem book falling up. It was a much liked childrens poem book. Shel dedicated the book to his son Matthew. Shel illustrated a picture for almost every poem in the book. -
Last book! :(
In 1998 Shel worte his last book, little did he know it would be his last book. Shel wrote the book Draw a skinny elephant. Shel started geting sick after he worte this book, his doctor put him on bed rest until he got better. -
dead!!!!!!
May 10 was the worst day of Shoshanna and Matthew silversteins lives! Their father died form a heart attack in Key west florida. There was no way of him being saved, he had a heart attack then he was gone. The kids had a fuenral for him and he had some of his favorite things buried with him.
