Mongol Invasion of Rus
Starting in 1237, the Mongols attempted to invade Rus. They were successful. This isolated Rus from the rest of Western Europe for more than 200 years, causing them to miss the Renaissance. Every kingdom in Rus was taken over except for Moscow. This also influenced the end of "Rus" and the start of "Russia" -

Ivan IV, later known as Ivan the Terrible, became the first Czar. Starting a reign of Czars that would continue for almost 400 years. -
Start of Romanov Dynasty
The Romanov Dynasty started with the coronation of Czar Michael I. It ended up being the most powerful dynasty. Lasting over 300 years it only ended because of the Revolution of 1917. Czar Nicholas II was forced to advocate the throne. He didn't die until about a year later when he was murdered along with his family and their servants. -

Czar Alexander III commissioned the building of the first Faberge Egg as a present for his wife. -
The Last Czar
Czar Nicholas II was murdered in cold blood along with his wife, 4 daughters, 1 son, and several servants on the night of July 16, 1918. This ended the rein of the Czars, and marked the start of the Communist Era. -
Soviet Union Forms
After the collapse of Czarist Russia, the Soviet Union was formed. It was ruled by Vladimir Lenin until he died of a stroke 2 years later. -

Vladimir Lenin dies only 2 years after taking office from a stroke. -
