The Nutcracker
This is an event that started off small, but soon it became a huge hit. The Nutcracker describes strength and spirit during bad times. This started off as a book but later on, light instrumental music came out, that lead all the way to a ballet performance. In 1892, they had their first ever ballet performance, This was an important event, because something so small ended up staying for generations years after, not realizing how popular it would become. -
Genres of Music
Genres of music plays the biggest part of music. Exampled are jazz, country, pop, rock,ect. 1830 was known as the romantic year so the music presented in this category was more moody, slow, expressive. Taking a leap, to 1930, this was more of a swing style. This music provided more of a different taste. For example the songs were more jazzy and dance. This became very popular, where anyone would be able to stand up and dance to it. -

First Microphone
The first microphone was invented in 1876. Emile Berliner was the first man to create the most usable carbon-button microphone. However, during this time their were other microphones but not to the point were it fully worked like Berliners did. It provided a "loose" which sent out wave sounds. Later on neither Berliner nor Edison was able to take create for wither of their inventions, so it was never perfected till years later. -
The record player
The record player was invented in 1887 by Thomas Edison. The first design trail was made out of a tin foil sheet, wrapped around a rotating cylinder. Later it was fixed up and soon called a record player. -
The first disc
Emile Berliner was the first to create an up and down vibration disk. This disc was used for storing music or any other sounds. We now know it as a record player today. It was used for almost the same purpose, but over the years it has developed into something better. -
The London Sympathy Orchestra
The London Sympathy Orchestra was invented in 1904 in London. It was set up and crated by a group of players that left Henry's Queen Halls Orchestra. They did this because they wanted a new rule. This Orchestra is the oldest orchestra in London. -
Headphones
These headphones were specifically used for the radio. They were known as the "Radio earphones." These headphones were made out of copper wire and an operators headband. However, this inventions did come to multiple fails. The inventor had to do attempt after attempt after attempt. All though it sounds easy to make, it was a difficult thing to do. -
Music Now
During this era, modern music became more popular. New styles of music started to become more popular because of new technology helping out. For example, Thomas Edison created the cylinder record which helped artist record and their music suddenly changed. This also helped their music sound more natural and clean. -
1950 Music Genre
During the 1930's/1940's there became a lot more genres then ever before. However, One that really stuck out was Swing. Many people referred to it as jazz too. This genre was founded in the 1920's but didn't become as popular to years later. The word swing came from "swing feels", which meant beat or pulse. -
Magnetic Tape Recorder
This tape recording technology improved sufficiently to meet basic broadcast standards. This recorder required one, thin, long, piece of plastic film. On that piece there was some sort of recording on it that would play when the recorder was on. How it would work is a magnetic piece would send signals through the energy in the machine and then patterns would be sent around and sound would begin to come out. -
Dinah Washington
Dinah Washington was a known singer in 1940. Her and her producer created 45 RandB songs, which were big hits during this time. Dinah would also back up her songs with a mixture of jazz, blues, pop and R&B. In her later years her style became a little more pop classic. Some songs were, "What a difference a day can make," and "September in the Rain." -
Influence of Roy Brown
Roy Brown was a Billboard RandB singer. Between the time of 1948 and 1951 his name appeared to be the best selling. A singer in New Orleans who influenced Elvis, was the same to influence Roy. He was a successful Crescent City rhythm-and-blues singer. Roy was an engineer who felt Gospel music would be a way to get him through the day. -
Elvis Presley
Elvis Presley picked up his first guitar on his 11th birthday for only $7.90. Thats when he knew this was what he wanted to do. However, Elvis isn't like the rest of artist and doing just rock. He did country, pop, soul music, blues, rock. He was well rounded, when it came to music styles. A couple of songs he created are, "Can't help falling in love", "Viva las Vegas", "Jail house rock " and many many more. In 1977 he was found dead laying on his bathroom floor, still as anything. -
The Beatles
The eatles is a boy band group that came together in the 1960's. They are well known for their songs, "Let it be", "All you need is love" and "Hey Judy". Later in the years they did a documentry on their "rebirth" and though it would be a good idea to have "Let it be" in it. However, in 1970 they split the group up and are no longer a boy band. -
Led Zeppelin, Influence
Led Zeppelin was a rock band group who started off as being inspired. Early groups that ware the blues, was Muddy water, Skip James and Howlin' Wolf, are the main reasons Zepp called themselves Blues band. They took every piece they did and instruments to heart. They listened to how they created their music and took it to heart. -
The Who
The Who was an English rock band. Their lead singer was Roger Daltrey, guitarist and singer Pete Townshend, bass guitarist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon. Some of their songs were, "Baba O'Riley" , "Who are you" and "Wont get fooled again". However, in 1983 their lead guitarist, Pete Townshend, decided to leave the group, which left the others to split up as well. -
Rolling stones
The rolling stones is a boy band who is greatly known for their lips and tongue. Their album "Blue and Lonesome" was just the start of that symbol. A few songs of theirs are, "Satisfaction", "Sympathy for the devil" and others. -
Grateful Dead
The Grateful Dead was an american rock band who formed together in 1965. Some of their songs are, "Eyes Of The World," Fire on the mountain," and "Ripple." There music was rock and roll which meant it was a little heavy. However, only 5 years later the group split up. -
Rock and roll all nite
This song is a song anyone and everyone known and can just sing along to. The artists, Kiss, came out with this loud, musical song in 1975. This group became a band in 1950 and lasted a while creating 29 albums or even more.
