  • Battle of the Alamo

    Santa Anna and the Mexican Army capture the Alamo, resulting in the deaths of almost all of the Texan soldiers
  • The Battle of San Jacinto

    In the final battle of the Texas Revolution, Sam Houston led Texan forces to defeat the Mexican army and capture Santa Anna.
  • The Treaty of Velasco

    The Treaty of Velasco was signed stating that fighting between Texan and Mexican forces would stop and that Santa Anna would withdraw his forces below the Rio Grande.
  • Sam Houston is elected the first president of the Republic of Texas

  • The United States finally recognized Texas as an independent nation

  • Houston became the capital of Texas

  • Mirabeau Lamar becomes the second president of Texas

  • The Battle of Neches

    Lamar ordered a war to expel the Cherokee from the Republic of Texas
