First radio station to produce music and vocals. Took 25 years to create. The station is still on air today, it has been running for 93 years. -

Advertising was a huge hit on the radio, much more than it is now. the main point to commercials is so that the station could make money in order to keep running. -

AM means your changing the amplitude of the wave. It changes the height of the wave. -

Since Uncle Charlie became too popular they had to put resttrictions on radio. In order to produce your own station you had to get a license. -

During the Great depression, people would listen to the radio to get their min off the world around them. This is when radio really took off. -

Marconi sold the radio idea to the Marines since they didnt have a way to communicate. they used it to their advantage which is good since they need to communicate in suspensful times. -
Uncle Charlie
term used for personal radio. This meant that if you wanted to, you could make your own radio station without having to go through all the trouble you have to go through today. This later created problems down the road when people would mix up the stations and it created chaos. -
Family Medium
During the bad times it helped bring familys together. There were a lot of stations that were okay for the whole family. -
Radio Shows
Superman was one of the shows that aired and was great for the whole family. -
Radio to Television
At first it didn't quite go over with people very well since they pictured the books, stations and what was going on differently in their head. -

When television became popular they stopped producing shows and put music on TV. Most of the time you could find music only in Jukeboxes, records, and live. -
FM
Edwin Armstrong invented the FM stations. music was mainly found on this transmitter, especially since it sent out stronger and better quality signals. -
Music improvment
Spotify allows you to pick any song you want and you can listen to it at anytime you want. Now you dont have to wait for the song to come on the radio, you can just search it.
