Whilst at this school, he played Hamlet and Lady Macbeth in school productions, and also wrote scripts for television. -
Translations
In the late 1970s he translated Carlo Goldoni's Venetian Twins, turning it into a musical. He also translated from Greek and French. -
University of Sydney
Enright received a pass BA from Sydney University, but threw in his honours year to join Nimrod st Theatre in Darlinghurst, working as a general assistant. -
Nimrod Theatre Company
Enright undertakes his first theatre apprenticeship at Nimrod, which he later regarded as "exciting". -
Genesian Theatre
As a member of Sydney's Genesian Theatre, Enright performed in 'A Doll's House' and 'Uncle Vanya', and directed 'London Assurance'. -
Melbourne Theatre Company
After his apprenticeship at the Nimrod, Melbourne Theatre Company took him on as a Trainee Director. -
New York University
Won the Australia Council Fellowship to study directing at NYU, and graduated in 1977. -
State Theatre Company of South Australia
After returning from NYC, Enright became assistant and then associate director of State Theatre Company in Adelaide, South Australia. -
'The Venetian Twins'
Enright writes the lyrics for musical comedy 'The Venetian Twins' which has been adapted from a Commedia d'ell Arte play. Directed by John Bell and held by Nimrod Theatre Company. Its first premiere is at the Sydney Opera House. -
'On the Wallaby'
'On the Wallaby' premiered at The Playhouse in Adelaide, by the State Theatre Company of South Australia. -
Head of Acting - NIDA
Enright was head of the acting course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, working with actors including Mel Gibson and Cate Blanchett, from 1982-1984. -
Winner of the Play Awards
Nick Enright along with Terence Clarke won the Play Award at the New South Wales Premier's Literary Awards in 1983 for the musical 'Variations'. -

Nick Enright writes the Libretto for opera, 'The Snow Queen', which premieres at the State Opera of South Australia Youth Company in Adelaide. -

Blackrock was first performed in 1995, adapted from a 1992 play by Enright's 'A Property of the Clan', which was inspired by the murder of Leigh Leigh in Stockton, Australia in 1989. -

'Mongrels' was a play Enright wrote about the relationship between his friend, Peter Kenna and Jim McNeil. -
