    The National Environment Policy Act is the first law passed to protect the environment. There was an oil spill earlier in the year which had people pushing for environmental protection. The act was passed to asses all of the environmental issues.
  • Clear Water Act

    This act made a system regarding people around he world. The objective was to make polluted waters fishable and swinable. Rivers were so polluted they were burnable. Now some bodies of waters are better and safe.
  • Safe Drinking Water Act

    The Safe Drinking Water Act protects public drinking water. The EPA and SDWA set the standard for healthy water. Technical and financial programs ensure the waters safety and availability.
  • Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act

    Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act gave special protection to 157,000,000 acre of land. This protection includes national preserves, national wildlife preserves, and wilderness and wilderness areas.
  • McDonalds started using biodegradable packaging

    The packaging McDonalds was using caused a lot of waste with its food. McDonalds started reusing and recycling. McDonalds eliminated 300 million pounds of trash.
  • Montreal Protocol

    The Montreal Protocol is the global agreement to protect the stratosphere ozone layer. The stratosphere ozone layer filters ultraviolet rays. The protocol has successfully reduced the production and consumption of ozone depleting products.
  • Medical Waste Tracking Act

    Medical waste, which doesn't break down, was being disposed of in the incorrect way. Therefore the act was passed and regulations were made. There is a tracking system in place for the waste. There is now record keeping and requirements.

    The United Nations Conference on Environment and development, also known as the Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit, was a major United Nations Conference. This conference was to help global environmental systems. Also to help the preservation of natural resources.
  • Hybrid Revolution

    The reason for the Hybrid Revolution is to protect fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are the main resource used to make gas. It is also a limited source we have. The burning of those fuels also make air pollution. The Hybrid will reduce the usage of resources and the and the amount of pollution produced.

    The Walk Score's purpose was to promote walking. To have less people driving and using cars. This is to help reduce air pollution.
  • Climate Agreement

    The Climate Agreement was adopted 13 days of intense bargaining suburb. The agreement puts the world nations on a course that could fundamentally change the way energy is being produced and consumed.The Climate Agreement helps slow down climate change.
  • Tougher Ozone Standards

    The Clean Air Act has set higher standards for healthy air. This is to clean up air pollution. Breathing in the pollution the ozone layer cannot filter out is bad for our bodies. This will help get rid of bits in the air.
  • Endangered Species Act

    The Endangered Species Act is a law that was passed to protect wildlife. The Act has protected many animals from people that build buildings in their habitat.
