    193,000 Britsh troops and 145,000 French troops were rescued. Mussolini tried to invade France without knowing Germany knowing and lost 6000 troops and over a third to frostbite. Axis powers deployed 3,350,000 troops. German planes were attached withed sirens to cause terror. 523,00 troops died on both sides. This is important because if the allied powers didn't evacuate Dunkirk then they would have been at a major disadvantage

    The name "battle of Britain" comes from a speech from Winston Churchill. Around 1,000 British planes were destroyed while around 1,800 German planes were destroyed. Germany bombed London 57 nights in a row. Hitler stopped bombing London because he needed them to bomb Russia. Hitler codenamed the invasion "Operation Sealion." This is important because if Hitler took Britain then the war probally would have been lost for the allies.

    The death toll was between 600,000 and 2,000,000. There was only 700,000 out of the 3 million people were left in the city after the siege. They evacuated 1.4 million people but shortly after they left the city they died of illness or starvation or bombings. In 1942 the German blockade killed 650,00 people. It lasted 900 days. This is important because the Russians showed the Germans how resistant they were and how they weren't going to give in without a fight and occupied most of there army.

    Around 91,00 German troops were captured. Hitler was angry at one of his generals and held a national shaming day for him. German tanks had trouble fighting in the streets because most of the buildings were rubble. The Germans started with 270,00 troops but increased to 1,040,000 with the help of the other axis powers. Hitler decided to invade the Soviet union without a declaration of war. This battle is important because after this ended teh germans did not advance any further in russia

    President Roosevelt gave one of his two direct orders during Operation Torch. The only place that there was fighting was in Operation Terminal, a part of Operation Torch. Operation Torch was in Northern Africa. The German Luftwaffe supported the Vichy French. When the Allied powers landed to the west of Egypt it would reduce pressure on Allied forces in Egypt. This was important because it allowed the Allied army to take egypt and the surronding area.

    It was the largest amphibious in history. The allies had to postpone the invasion because of bad weather. 10,000 allies were killed, captured and MIA. Planning for D-day took months. Around 3,200 reconnaissance missions were launched to take important photos. This is important because this battle was a major turning point for the allied powers.

    Over 1 million men were involved. The troops who were attacked were there to rest or to train. Hitler's generals didn't want him to go ahead with the attack. German troops stole American uniforms to destroy things behind lines. The battle of the bulge was the first time the American army let black troops fight. This is important because it was the first time black people were allowed to fight in the army and broke the seggregation laws.

    The battle of Berlin was the last major battle of WW2. Stalin wanted to get to Berlin before the British and American troops. Stalin sent 2.25 million troops to Berlin. On April 20, the heaviest bombings of WW2 took place which was also Hitlers Birthday. 81,000 Russian soldiers died and 1000-4500 German soldiers and thousands of more citizens died. This is important because this was the last major battle of WW2 so there wouldnt be any more killing.
