    When I was born
    My name is Esperanza Castro, I was born on July 17, 2004 in Bogota. I was a six-month-old premature baby or kangaroo, the youngest of three sisters (we are quadruplets) for which I spent eight months in the hospital in an incubator under the care of doctors and when I came out, my parents Diana and Francisco took care for me, as much as they took care of my other sisters.

    When I was two, three and four years old, my world was my sisters and we played all the time. I remember that we would jump down the stairs from the third floor sitting on our bed pillows and it seemed like it was a slide, we also played with my brother that he was a golira and we had to escape from him, also that I was a "trainer of dogs" and my sisters was the dogs, so I had to educate them and so we played a lot with our imagination and it was a very beautiful time in our childhood.

    When I was little, I loved Halloween, the idea of dressing up as my favorite princesses, having free candys for the costume and having my grandparents and sisters come with me to trick-or-treat and see the other kids from my age costumed too and evaluate their costumes. It was so fun and I loved it. But since I was 15 years old, I stopped doing it, because when I went out to ask for candies, many people who gave out the candies said that I was too old and they didn't give me any candy.

    Preschool

    The truth is that I hardly remember anything about my childhood (especially before I was 10 years old) but obviously when I was 2 years old, my parents had to take me and my sisters to a garden, which was called "Huellitas" and in that garden we did kindergarten, pre-garden, garden and transition. I remember that I had a lot of fun, that I wanted to learn to dance ballet, I slept most of the time in a room where there were many mats and I had almost no friends so I was very shy.

    I remember when I was in the garden, there was a ballet performance at night, my parents were already in the theater ready to see me while I was dancing. The teacher was getting us ready with some pink dresses and glitter on our faces, but when it was my turn, the glitter was gone, so I sat on the floor and started crying and I didn't want to go out dancing until they put me the glitter. So I didn't go out dancing and I didn't show up that day.
    Now for me that day is very embarrassing.

    When I was little with my sisters, I remember that once we were playing catch with my brother, my mother was working, (but I don't know why, that day she arrived earlier) and while we were playing, my sister Isa jumped onto the sofa with a big force and the sofa for its weight leaned against the window, breaking it. My brother got very scared and tried to fix it, but there was nothing to do, my mom came and scolded us because we had broken the window and now she has to pay for it.

    I did my primary school at "Nuestra Señora del Pilar Chapinero" school, like high school: a school that used to be for nuns, but since it is currently becoming mixed. I remember that in primary school I was very shy, I was afraid of people and the reaction they would take if I said or did something that did not seem right to them, for which I was very quiet and I was always seen as the cute girl, becouse I helped all my classmates and I gave them many things, such as supplies or homework.

    When I was little I used to steal, because many girls brought things that I liked and since I didn't have them, I just take them for me. So one day my best friend brought her diary to school and I wanted to see what she thinking about me, so I stole it and took it to my house, but unfortunately the diary had buttons and I had to put a password, I tried many times to open it, but it was impossible, so I just got frustrated and threw it away. My best friend never knew that I stole it her diary.

    Once, when I was in third grade, one of my classmates lost her Nokia cell phone and since I had a "reputation as a stealer" all the girls began to accuse me and the teacher told me to return it, but I HAD DONE NOTHING. The teacher started looking in my bag and the cell phone was under the bag without the battery. That day I got very angry, since I WAS NOT THE ONE WHO HAD TAKEN THE CELL PHONE, from that day I stopped stealing from my colleagues and I have not done it again.

    High School

    My high school was very different from my primary school, I don't know why in high school I realized that the people around me couldn't hurt me if I didn't agree with what I did or said and that I couldn't be complacent all the time with others, so I started to be more myself and not let be intimidated by the others. I was freer and that was beautiful, nothing made me feel ashamed anymore and I and my generation became more united, they always supported me and wished me the best always.

    When I was in seventh grade and it was my birthday a girl I admire a lot called Silvana gave me a book "Shadowhunters" by Cassandra Clare, I never asked her for it, but she did. I gladly accepted and that same day I gave him a chance to read it and WOW, it was entering a whole new world outside of social media and appliances. Reading was like watching television in my head and I loved it, since that day I haven't stopped reading books and it's what I like to do the most, its my favorite hobby.

    In 2020 we entered in pandemic becouse the Covid-19 and my brother, who is a military, had to go to Medellin to work, so since the battalion does not accept pets, my brothers left my sisters and me the guinea pigs that he had bought with his girlfriend. My sisters didn't pay much attention to them, so I took care of the two guinea pigs, taking care of them, loving them and cleaning them. And very quickly they became a big part of my life and I love them and I would give my all for them.

    My future is now
    After graduating from eleventh grade last year, I'm taking this year to figure out what I want to study (which is most like literary studies or literature) and to rest, knowing myself and being more patient with life, as well as meditating and studying to present the national exam this September 24. If my score is higher than 700 I will be accepted in veterinary medicine, if not, it doesn't matter since I will get 650 and I will be accepted in literature, which is the career I want to study.
