Lakatos was born in Hungary to a Jewish family on November 9th, 1922. -
1944, Received Degree
Lakatos received a degree in mathematics, physics, and philosophy from the University of Debrecen. -
March 1944, Germans invaded Hungary
Germans invaded Hungary, Lakatos avoided Nazi prosecution of Jews by changing his name to "Irme Molnar". His mother and grandmother died in Auschwitz. He once again changed his name to "Irme Lakatos" in honor of Geza Lakatos. -

Lakatos worked as a senior official in the Hungarian Ministry of Education. -

Lakatos continued his education and was awarded his PHD from Debrecen University -
1950, Imprisoned
Lakatos was imprisoned (1950-1953) on charges of revisionism by the Hungarian government. -

After Lakatos' release, he returned to academic life, doing mathematical research. -

Lakatos fled to Vienna, and later reached England due to the Soviet Unions invasion of Hungary. -

He was appointed to a position in the London School of Economics, where he wrote on the philosophy of mathematics and the philosophy of science. -

Lakatos received a PHD in philosophy from the University of Cambridge. -
1971, Became editor
Lakatos became editor of the British Journal for the Philosphy of Science. -
