This invention sped up writing memos, paperwork, and letters. Workers in the newspaper business really liked this invention, because they had to write the whole newspaper by hand. Many companies had different versions of this machine. The Remington company made some typewriters and the Frankiln company also made some. -

The corn planter

This invention saved farmers time by not having to plant the seeds one by one by hand. To plant the seed this machine would drill a small hole in the ground and drop a seed in the hole. After the seed was in the hole a metal plate in the back of the corn planter would scoot the dirt over the hole and cover it. -
The revolver

His revolver has been the best revolver on the market from when he invented it till modern day. This revolver was carried by the military and the Texas Rangers (the police of the old days). The features that made his revolver the best in the market was his folding trigger. This trigger acted like a saftey in a way. The trigger would only swing down when the gun was cocked all the way back. -
The telegraph

This device invented by Samuel Morse changed long-distance communicating forever. To get a message from one end to the other the telegraph would send electronic signals along a wire and was decoded on the other end. The code was called Morse code which consisted of dots and dashes that represented letters. Morse sent the first telegraph from Washington D.C. to Baltimore, Maryland. -

George Eastman invented the first camera. This camera was called a Kodak. George's camera came to be a big seller and turned it into the Eastman Kodak Company. Kodak is still a major company in the camera business. What made his camera better was that he used nitro-cellulose film instead of the glass dry plate. -
Bicycle

Penny Farthing invented this bicycle. This bicycle was unique, because it had a large wheel in the front and a small wheel in the back. The pedals on this bike were directly attached to the front big wheel. They made the front wheel bigger, because they though the bigger the wheel the faster the bike would be. this bike was dangerous, because its height would make it easy to tip over if you turned too sharp. -
Grain Elevator

Joseph Dart invented the grain elevator. This invention helped people move grain more efficiently. Joseph's elevator could hold 55,000 bushels of grain at one time. Over time this elevator was improved to where it could carry 112,000 to 2 million bushels of grain and that saved the people a lot of time and money. -
Sleeping Train Car

George Pullman (a cabinet maker) invented this sleeping train car. This train car was made so the people could go long distances and sleep. The car was nicknamed the Pullman Sleeping Car. -
Washing Machine

Hans Rosling invented the first washing machine. The washing machine is known as the greastest invention in the world. This machine saved people a lot of time. They couldwash more clothes in one day than they could washing by hand. Washing machines were really needed when people switched from skins to fabric clothing. -

Alfred Nobel was the inventor of dynamite. Nobel was born in Sweden and moved to the U.S. to further study chemistry. The dynamite helped with demolition of building or other structures. Dynamite was used to clear out or make new gold mine entries. -
Torpedo

Robert Whitehead invented the torpedo. The torpedo is a self-propelled underwater bomb. The torpedo is equipped with a motor and a propeller in the back. When a ship gets hit by a torpedo it would expand and blow up. -
Barbed Wire

Joseph Glidden improved the barbed wire. Instead of using one strand on the barbed wire he used two strands. Two strands helps the farmers or ranchers contain or keep out animals. This barbed wire wouldn't break with a lot of ice or snow piled on it. -

The first movie made my Eadweard Muybridge and it was about a horse.The movie was shot in seperate picture frames. With this movie he proved that horses do have all four hooves on the ground during their running stride. -
Coca Cola

John Stith Pemberton invented the world famous Coca Cola. Coca Cola is a blend of caramel, sweeteners, and kola nut extract. This popular drink started out as a medicine and developed into a drink. It was a headache remedy and nerve tonic before it became a drink. -
