Nicéphore Niépce, The first photo
Nicéphore Niépce was a French inventor noticed as the creator of Photography. In 1826 he used a primitive camera taking the oldest photo of the real world. Niėpce set up his camera on a window still where the photo was taken. The photo was later on destroyed during further experiments. -
Daguerre and the daguerreotype process
After ten years of research and experiments french scientist Louis Dauguerre produced the first practical photographic process which allowed your photos to be permanently obtained after taking photos. His technique was named the daguerreotype, and it used mirror-like images on a copper plate and it was developed with mercury minerals. -
Addictive colour
In 1861 Scottish mathematical physicist James Clerk Maxwell produced the earliest color photograph, an image of a tartan ribbon, by having it photographed three times through red, blue, and yellow filters, then recombining the images into one color composite. However Thomas Sutton took the photo while Maxwell watched as his technique was put into place. -
Pictures in motion
Eadweard Muybridge developed a shutter for his camera. This allowed him to photograph images in motion up to that point the subject of a picture had to be still for long periods of time. Muybridge's photographic sequence of a race horse galloping on a field was his first photo with his technique. -
The first Kodak camera
First Kodak camera, released in 1888 containing a 20-foot roll of paper, enough for 100 2.5-inch diameter circular pictures. The camera was invented by George Eastman and was made in the shape of a box which allowed the camera to have an excessive amount of roll film inside it. -
The disposable camera
In 1896 the first disposable camera was introduced by Fuji. The makers of the camera are believers in recycling and have made the cameras to be recycled. These cameras are meant to be used once or twice when using the camera for photography. The camera was a branch extended from the Kodak's product line. -
The first colour camera
Up until this point, photographs were in black and white when you take photos. Auguste and Louis Lumber french brothers introduced the Autochrome, the first color camera available to the public. The photo to the right showing the Lumiere brothers with the photo being taken by their colour camera invention. -
First 35mm Camera
The first 35mm still camera developed by Oskar Barnack of German Leica Camera. Later on this type of camera became the most used camera for photographers. -
The autofocus camera
The Polaroid SX-70 Sonar OneStep was the first autofocus single-lens reflex camera, released in the year 1978. The camera used focus sensors in the camera body coupled with a motorized lens. The camera's contrast detection autofocus is achieved by measuring contrast within a sensor field, through the lens of the camera. -
Camera Phones
The first cell phone with a built-in camera was manufactured by Sharp Corporation and released by J-phone in Japan in 2000. The phone was 110,000-pixel CMOS and a color display of 256-color display. However you had to hook it up to a computer to get your photos. The camera and the phone components were essentially separate devices housed in the same body.
