    The Progressive Era is basically America fixing itself. Its an era filled with peace, prosperity, and progress. The Progressive Era was a turn-around in American history.
  • 15th Amendment

    15th Amendment
    On March the 3rd of 1870, the 15th Amendment passed; allowing African American MEN to vote.
  • Chinese Exclusion Act

    Chinese Exclusion Act
    The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 banned the Chinese from immigrating into America for 10 years, and later extend for another 10 in 1892, and then indefinitely in 1902. It was to curb the influx of the amount of Immigrants coming in.
  • Sherman Anti-Trust Act

    Sherman Anti-Trust Act
    The Sherman Anti-Trust Act allowed the federal government to institute proceedings against trusts in order to dissolve them. Basically got rid of monopolies.
  • Roosevelt Elected

    Roosevelt Elected
    After the assassination of McKinley, Roosevelt was elected and held America to great standards. Many believe he was the greatest President ever, and its not a bad argument.
  • The Jungle

    The Jungle
    The Jungle, published by Upton Sinclair, revealed the horrible practices going on in meat factories. It showed the people what they were eating, and how unedible and disgusting it was. Also how un-regulated it is. His main goal was to revolutionize America into a socialistic society, but readers targeted how disgusting the food they ate was.
  • Meat Inspection Act

    Meat Inspection Act
    Following the report of Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle," the Meat Inspection Act was passed along with the Pure Food and Drug Act. The main point of this was to ensure that factories supply clean, edible meat. The meat before this act was disgusting and close to inedible.
  • 17th Amendment

    17th Amendment
    This amendment allowed for direct election of senators. This allowed for citizens to be more involved with politics.
  • 16th Amendment

    16th Amendment
    This amendment allowed the government to impose a federal income tax.
  • 18th Amendment

    18th Amendment
    The 18th amendment banned the making, sale, and transportation of alcohol. It was later repealed on December 5th, 1933 due to the impossibility of control, the government just couldn't prevent it.
  • 19th Amendment

    19th Amendment
    The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote. After many years of failed attempts of suffrage the women finally won representation.
