The Devonian time period was when plants were discovered along with trees.In this picture is a fern-like leaves of Archaeopteris, one of the first tree-like plants. Caboniferous Mississipian time
The Mississippian environment was heavily marine, with seas covering parts of the continent.Most Mississipian rocks are limestone, which are composed of the remains of crinoids, lime-encrusted green algae, or calcium carbonate shaped by waves.In this picture is a map of the mississipian time, the earth was mainly covered by oceans lakes and swamps. -
Carboniferous Pennsylvanian time
The Pennsylvanian period is the time during which most of the world's coal deposits were laid down, the coal being formed from compressed layers of rotting vegetation.More of the land was exposed to the air at this time. Both plants and animals had to adapt to the changing habitat. Short periods of drought brought on by the glaciers which caused mass extinctions of animals that lived in the shallow seas. The shallow seas became swamps between the ocean and the dry land. -
Permian
The Permian time was the last period of the Paleozoic Era.The Permian time affected the marine life the most by far.The Premian time was a time of beginnings and endings.In this picture is shows a Varanops, a pelycosaur reptile of the Permian period. -
Triassic
During the trassic time period pangea started.The first corals appeared, even though other reef organisms were already present.Frogs, salamanders, crocodiles, turtles, and snakes slunk and slithered on and off the Triassic coast, lakes, and rivers. -
Jurassic
The period is named for rock strata found in the Jura Mountains on the border between Switzerland and France, which is what the photo is of.During the Jurassic, the supercontinent Pangaea began to break apart. This created two landmasses, a northern mass and a southern mass.The Jurassic time periods vegetation consisted mainly of seed ferns, cycads, horsetails, conifers, and gingkoes. -

The Cretaceous Period is the final period of the Mesozoic Era.The changes to the continents continued in the Cretaceous Period.The first dinosaur in the Cretaceous is Tyrannosaurus rex, finally came along during the Cretaceous Period.The picture shown is a picture of Tyrannosaurus rex. -
