Dred Scott vs Sanford Decision
The Dred Scott case was an argument that if a slave's master took them out of a slave state then they wouldn't be considered a slave anymore. Dred Scott lost the case, and therefore slavery was considered legal in all states. -
John Brown's Raid
John Brown was a massive supporter of Anti-Slavery. In an attempt to arm the slaves and start a revolution, he raided an armory in an attempt to seize weaponry for this purpose. In the end, he failed but the actions he took electrified the nation. -
Battle of Fort Sumter
The battle that officially start the Civil War, Confederate Soldiers attacked a Union fort in South Carolina, declaring it was there land. Following the battle, a large number of citizens in botht eh North and the South decided that war would be the best option.
