The Battle of Britain
Was a war between BRITAIN and Germany in July 1940 because Germany wanted to invade Great Britain. Great Britain actually held their ground with slight assistance from the United States.They were basically loaned 50 old destroyers in exchange for naval bases by the US. That definitely upgraded their support and aided in other ways that left the US no longer in the middle. -
Operation Barbarossa
Hitler broke the German-Soviet non aggression pact on June 22 1941 with plans to invade Russia hoping to capture vast agricultural lands , seize numerous oil fields, and break the military threat of Stalin, so they did, making it the largest land invasion in history. The takeover actually went well but Russia was too big and was willing to sacrifice millions to stop the takeover.Eventually the cold Russia weather took a toll on German forces forcing them to fall back. -
Operation Torch
This event was part of the European war that took place in 1942 in North Africa after the British victory at El Alamein which began to push German forces back. In November Marked the first time Americans got involved landing in the French Morocco pushing the Germans east while the Brits pushed west. By 1943 the allies were able to force axis forces out of Africa. -
Operation Overlord
Also known as D-day which was the first day of operation overlord. It was led by the western allies of WW2 and General Eishenhower along with Britain,Canada,and Free France ..It was the largest invasion in history when they assaulted Normandy on the northern coast of France on June 6th of 1944. Eventually leading to the capture of the port at Cherbourg on June 26th and the city of Caen on July 21th. -
Yalta Conference
Was also sometimes called the Crimea Conference and code-named the Argonaut Conference . It was held from February 4th to 11th , in 1945. It was a WW2 meeting consisting of the heads of government of the US,the UK, and the Soviet Union represented by President FDR, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Premier Joseph Stalin. The meeting was to discuss Europe's post war recognitions, and to talk of the reestablishment of the nations war torn Europe.
