Cold War Starts
Historians disagree on an exact date the coldwar started, but most regard 1947 as the starting date. The Cold war was a state of ploitical and econmical tension between The U.S. and the Soviet Union. Diferrent ideaologies led to diferrent views and ideas between the two powers that ultimately led to a rivalry that began the coldwar. -
The Berlin Blockade
The Berlin Blockae was one of the first major events of the coldwar. The Soviet Union blocked all acces to West Berlin, cutting off supply lines to the Americans , the British, and the French. The three countries started to send supplies via airplanes and for almost a year this lasted. The Soviet Union lifted the blockade on May 11, 1949. -
Korean War
The Korean War was a war between North and South Korea. The U.S. helped democratic South Korea while the Soiviet Union helped the communist North Korea.The war lasted three years. -
Space Race
The Space Race was an informal race between the U.S. and the USSR. This is an important event in the coldwar because the rivalry the U.S. and the Soviet Union had led them to further imrpove technology and ultimately get a man to the moon. Had there been no rivalry, the U.S. might not have fruthered technology as fast as we did -
Bay Of Pigs
The CIA trained cuabn exiles and sent them back to Cuba in hopes of them encouraging others to revolt against Cuba. This failed and the people were massacred within three days. This is an important Cold War event because this led to the Cuban Missle Crisis only one year later. -
Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall was built in order to further divide the people of East and West Germany. The Soviet Union was very Strict with the wall making sure anyone who deicded to escape was killed. This was a major symbol of the cold war, -
Cuban Missle Crisis
On october of 1962, the U.S. found out that Cuba had midrange missles wtih nuclear washeads. This is the closest the world has come to as far as nuclear war. On October 28, the U.S. agreed to not invade Cuba if the soviet union removed the missles. -
Strategic Arms Limitations Talk
The Strategic Arms Limitations Talk were meetings in which The U.S. and the Soviet UNion agreed to limit their nuclear weopon production. They also agreed to not build anti nuclear prevention missles. -
Berlin Wall is Dismantled.
The Berlin Wall was dismantled on November 9 , 1989. This reunited people from East and West Berlin again. This showed soviet power and Comunist power weakening. -
Cold War Ends
The Cold war finally ends along with the USSR on December 26, 1991. This settled most rivalrys between the U.S. and Russia.
