Confederation was formed
The seven suceding states formed the confederation constitution. Jefferson Davis was president until they could hold elections. -
Abraham Lincoln elected as President
Abe Lincoln was inagureated as President on March 4 1861. At the time, he had no plans to end slavery in states where it already existed. But, he didnt' want secession to continue. -
Attack on For Sumter
The south bombarded Fort Sumter from all sides. This went on for hours. They began to run out of food and resources when General Anderson realized they could never win this battle. He surrendered to the south. This was the beginning of the Cival War. -
Battle of Bull Run
This battle was fought at Manassas Creek. Many men from both the North and the South died during this battle. The south won botht the first at the second battle here. -
Battles
Many more battles were fought through 1861 and 1862. Some of these battles include; The Battle of Shiloh, The Battle of Antietam, and the Battle of Fredricksburg. -
Emancipation Proclomation
Abraham Lincon issued the Emancipation Proclomation on January 1, 1863 to release many of the slaves. -
Battle of Gettysburg
In this major battle, the North defeated the South. This was a major tuning point in the war. The North began to win many more battles afer this. -
General Lee Surrenders
General Lee surrendered on April 4, 1865 at the Appomattox court house in Virginia to General Grant. -
The end of the Civil War
The last battle of the Civil War was the Battle at Palmito Ranch. It was a victor for the North. All remaining confederate soldiers were foced to surrender.
