    Emotional- Pay more attention to friendships and teamwork.
    Intellectual- Understands concept of numbers
    Cognitive milestone- Show rapid development of mental skills.

    7 years old
    Physical- Vision is as sharp as an adult's vision
    Emotional- Likes to play alone, but friends are becoming important
    Intellectual- Can repeat three numbers backwards
    Cognitive milestone- Learn better ways to describe experiences and talk about thoughts and feelings

    8 years old
    Physical- Dresses and grooms self completely
    Emotional- Becoming interested in boy-girl relationships, but does not admit it
    Intellectual- Reads more and enjoys reading
    Cognitive milestone- Have less focus on one’s self and more concern for others
  • 9 years old

    9 years old
    Physical- More graceful with movements and abilities
    Emotional- Start to form stronger, more complex friendships and peer relationships. It becomes more emotionally important to have friends, especially of the same sex
    Intellectual- Understands fractions
    Cognitive milestone- Has an increased attention span

    10 years old
    Physical- Remainder of adult teeth will develop
    Emotional- Experience more peer pressure
    Intellectual- Likes to write letters
    Cognitive milestone- Begin to see the point of view of others more clearly
  • 11 years old

    11 years old
    Physical- Remainder of adult teeth will develop
    Emotional- Become more aware of his or her body as puberty approaches. Body image and eating problems sometimes start around this age
    Intellectual- Reads well
    Cognitive milestone- Become more independent from the family

    Emotional- Experience more peer pressure
    Intellectual- Writes stories
    Cognitive milestone- Face more academic challenges at school
