*Born in Shrewsbury, England, Charles was born on the 12th of February 1809. He was the second youngest of six children and he loved to adventure. Nature was known to be one of his favorite adventure times. Darwin had also come from a long line of scientists and doctors. -
Darwin Education (02/12/1802-04/19/1882)
*Charles Darwin had proven his high mental capacity at a young age. He enrolled into the University of Edinburgh at the age of 16 and two years later, became a student at the Christ's College in Cambridge.
*His father wanted Charles to follow in his footsteps and become a doctor. Unfortunately, the sight of blood was unsettling for Charles. -
Charles Darwin and the HMS Beagle (02/12/1802-04/19/1882)
*After graduating from Christ's College in 1831, his previous mentor John Stevens Henslow recommended him for a naturalist's position aboard the ship, HMS Beagle.
*The voyage would take five years and would go around the world. On the 27th of December, 1831, they set sail! Darwin would come to collect many things like birds, plants, soil, and fossils. -
Darwins "Zoology of the Voyage of the Beagle" (02/12/1802-04/19/1882)
*Upon his return to England in 1835, Charles Darwin published his "Journal of Researches", which was later edited and published into the book "Zoology of the Voyage of the Beagle".
*As part of his journal, he discussed his very particular interest in the observations he made in the Galapagos islands. -
Darwins Theory of Evolution (02/12/1802-04/19/1882)
*in 1858, Charles Darwin announced his theory of evolution. On the 24th of November, 1859, he published a profound explanation of his theory in the world renowned best work, "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection".
*Through out centuries, DNA evidence has proven Darwins theory of evolution. However, there is still controversy to this day in regards to the theory of Creationism.
