    A study performed by Ehlers in 2000 identified idiosyncratic appraisals and the occurance of re-experiencing events to be core to PTSD. Ehlers built upon the study in 2008 by investigating and proving cognitive therapy (CT) an effective form of treatment for combat-related PTSD.

    Prior to the study done by Albright in 2009, EMDR was used as a treatment method for general PTSD. However, the results of this study did not prove EMDR to be effective in treating combat-related PTSD. EMDR was deemed a premature and experimental method of treatment with little evidence for effectiveness.

    Stellate Ganglion Block Proves Effective for the Treatement of PTSD
    A study done by Mulvaney in 2010 used PTSD checklist (PCL) to determine that SGB provides immediate and stable relief of PTSD symptoms. Prior to the SGB, the patient’s PCL score displayed a PTSD diagnosis, while the post SGB PCL score did not display a PTSD diagnosis. After seven months of follow ups, the patient’s PCL score remained below the PTSD diagnosis cutoff, proving SGB an effective method of treatment.

    In a study done by Azad in 2014, pre, post, and delayed post quality of life questionnaires were conducted before and after the administration of mindfulness training (MT) therapy. The post questionnaires showed an improved quality of life for the veterans.
