Truman Doctrine
Harry S. Truman declared immediate economic and military aid to the governments of Greece, threatened by communist insurrection. Turkey was under the pressure from Soviet expansion in the Mediterranean area. When passed the doctrine would grant 400 million in aid to Greece and Turkey to battle the Communist terrorism. -
The Korean War
The Korean War began on June 25, 1950, when 75,000 soldiers from the North Korean People's Army poured across 38th parallel, the boundary between the Soviet- backed Democratic
People's Republic of Korea to the north and the pro- Western Republic of Korea to southern. This was the first military action of the Cold War. Overall 5 million soldiers lost their lives in a war know as "the Forgotten War". -
Dwight D. Eisenhower elected President of the United States
On November 4th, 1992 The United States 42nd quadrennial presidential election took place. Dwight D. Eisenhower, Republican, won a landslide victory over Democrat Adlai Stevenson, which ended a string of Democratic Party that stretched back to 1932.
