Germany's Invasion of Poland
Germany invaded Poland. The Polish were defeated. The reasoning behind this was because of the German-Soviet Pact which stated the Poland was to be partioned between the two powers. -

"The Lightning War". This was a military tactic to fight using high firepower and auto forces. This is later adopted as a military tactic around the world to disorganize enemy forces. -

Hitler sent 3 million soldiers to the enemy lines. The long range of land caused a two front war. Operation Barbarossa failed. -
Pearl Harbor
Hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the US naval base located in Pearl Harbor. Over 2,000 American soldier died and then America declared war on Japan. -
D-Day
US forces landed on beaches in Normandy. This was a victory but about 4,000 allied troops had lost their lives. -
Battle of the Bulge
Hiltler sent his army northwest and lost more than a quarter million of his troops. The US had about 100,000 casualties. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
America's invasion of the Japanese coast. It involved three marine divisions and Japanses army and naval troops. This was a US victory. -
VE Day
Germana troops in Europe laid down their arms. The Russians then took the Germans as prisoners. This was the Victory in Europe. -
Dropping of Atomic Bombs
Two atomic bombs were dropped in Japan. One in Hiroshima and another in Nagasaki. Together about 120,000 Japanese civilians were killed from the bombings. This arrangement was made by President Harry S.Truman. -
VJ Day
Victoryover Japan Day. Caused by the bombing in Japan. Hirohito belived if they kept fighting it would be the end of humanity.
