Tecumseh
In 1811 there was the battle of Tippecanoe in which the Americans defeated Tecumseh and his tribe, carried out massacres, and burned down their capital. -
War of 1812 Begins
The United States officially declared war on Great Britain after continuously refusing to respect its Neutrality status by seizing ships still and impressing sailors. -
Impressment of sailors
Great Britain coin continued to seize American ships and while seizing these ships they would impress soldiers. They kidnapped these sailors and forced them to be a part of Great Britain's military. -
War Hawks
These were democratic-republicans that insisted the United States go to war. They did not want to be shamed and humiliated once again by Great Britain, so they insisted the United States go to war, and they did. -
Tecumseh
Tecumseh aided the British army and helped them fight the war of 1812 against America in the hope to defeat the Americans and gain back land that was stolen from them. -
Treaty of Ghent
This was a treaty signed to peacefully end the war between Great Britain and the United States. -
Hartford Convention
The was a convention called by the federalists to discuss their opposition to the war. They also discussed changes that should be made within the nation, like abolishing the ⅗ compromise. -
Battle of New Orleans
The British army tried to gain control over an American port, which the Americans fought against and won the battle. This was the last major battle of the war of 1812.
