Grammer school found in leeds
Leeds Grammar School was an independent school in Leeds established in 1552. In August 2005 it merged with Leeds Girls' High School to form The Grammar School at Leeds. The two schools physically united in September 2008. -
St John's Church
St John’s is the oldest church in Leeds city centre. It was built in 1632-34, a turbulent time in England when very few new churches were constructed. The glory of the church lies in its magnificent Jacobean (Carolian) fittings, particularly the superb carved wooden screen. -

Leeds town hall was built
A site was chosen in Park Lane, between Calverley Street and Oxford Place. The land belonged to John Blayds, and Park House, occupied by Dr. Richard Hobson, stood on the site. -

The University of Leeds was founded in 1904, but its origins go back to the nineteenth century with the founding of the Leeds School of Medicine in 1831 and then the Yorkshire College of Science in 1874. -
The first cinema in Leeds
In 1926 George Watson acquired the Grand Arcade and Tower Cinema in Leeds, one of the first cinemas in Leeds. This acquisition was followed shortly afterwards with the acquisition of the Carlton Cinema and the Pavilion Cinema in Leeds. -
