    during the formative (which was around early A.D. 200) period the maya grew crops. These were the early stages of maya. Some of the crops were corn/maize, beans, squash, and cassava/manioc

    The maya ended in 900A.D. . due to the lack of resources and the amount of battles they had to leave their great cities. All that was left behind was huts and few fortifications.
