Instead of the lords all controlling each of their manners and trying to fights by themselves, all of the lords were now taking orders from a King which made fighting more effective. Both France and England used a lot of their financial resources for every battle which led depleted resources. The centralized government ended their monarchy and putting a lot of their resources into technological military advances also led to the end of the Middle Ages.
