    After Lincoln's election, states that wanted to preserve slavery were threatened. Eventually, 11 states left the union and that is how the Confederate States of America were formed. Source
  • Fort Sumter

    Confederate troops bombarded the island Fort Sumter in South Carolina when Abraham Lincoln wanted to resupply the fort. Confederate troops took over the land.The battle lasted 34 hours about a day and a half. Eventually, the land was abondonded by the confederate leaders and restored by the U.S.

    The union army marched up to the confederate army at Mathew Hills, Virginia. Confederate troops were driven back to Henry Hill. This battle lasted about one day.

    Union generals launched an attack on a fort in Tennessee. The confederate general secretly evacuated his troops, surrendering. The battle lasted barely one day.

    10 days after the victory of Fort Henry. 12,000 men from this fort in Knetucky surrendered.This battle assured that Kentucky was apart of the Union and the rivers were open to use. This battle lasted barely a day.

    Conferate soliders attacked union troops on the Tenessee river. The union troops retaliated. Neither side won this battle and it lasted 2 days.

    In Manassas, Virginia union tropps and confederate troops fought. This time union troops were more experienced. With heavy losses on both sides, the rest of cnfederate general's troops and rebels arrived and Union general went back to Washington. This battle lasted 2 days.
