World Wide Web goes live!
English scientist Sir Timothy Berners-Lee invented the world wide web in 1989. He wrote the first web browser in 1990 setting the standard for internet search engines we used such as Yahoo. Everyday people used this on a daily starting in 1993-94. Best invention of the 90's. -
Text messaging
The first text message was sent through computers, which was created by a 22 year old name Neil Papworth. It wasn't until 2004 that it was developed on to cellular devices. To think how fast it developed to our main source of communication. -
USB port
USB ports are invented, allowing for computer accessories easily connect to you hardware in order to customize your computer. -
Netflixs and wait 3 to 7 days for a movie.
Netflix was founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph in Scotts Valley, California. To think we would go online and search through the hundreds of tiles to be sent out via USPS. It still makes me chuckle when I tell kids, "back in my day Netflixs came in the mail." Netflix in 2021 has a strong following and has become a main source of entertainment for all generations. -
The MP3 player
Chances are if you didn't have an Iphone or a Ipod you had a MP3 player. Move over CD player and all the skips... MPS player held 100's of songs that you would download from a computer. Usually this was very risky considering we were all internet pirates. Taking music off of Napster back in the day was potential for a law suit as well as viruses to your computer. The risk and reward of having a MP3 player.
