First Woman Governer of Texas
Miriam A. Ferguson was the first Texan governer of Texas. She was elected into offive when her husband, James Edward Ferguson, was impeached from office in 1917. She was the 29th governer of Texas, and the 32nd governer on her second term. -
WWII
The second world war began on 1 Sept. 1939, with the German invasion of Poland. It was the only use of nuclear weapons in warfare as of now. It included many mass civilian deaths, because of events like the Holocaust. It is estimated 50 to 75 million people died. It was the deadliest conflict in human history. The two opposing forces were the Allies (again) and the Axis. -

Assassination in Dallas- JFK
John F. Kennedy was assassinated on Nov. 22 1963. He was shot, while in a parade in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, by Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald shot three different bullets, two of which hit the president. There may have been two shooters, and the second missed his shot. LHO shot JFK in the neck, and after this in the head. President Kennedy died while en route to the hospital. -

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a landmark piece of American civil rights history. It outlawed major forms of discrimination to racial, national, ethnic, religious minorities, and women.It outlawed voting, and schooling racial discrimination. -

First Republican Governor of Texas Since 1978
Bill Clements was the 42nd and 44th governor of Texas. He was the first Republican governor of Texas since the 1870s. His eight were the most ever served by a Texan governor up until Rick Perry in recent years. -
George H.W. Bush
George Bush was sworn in as President on January 20, 1989. He was a Texan Governor before this. He served as vice president 8 years before this. He is currently the oldest surviving president. His son, George W. Bush became president one term after this. Bush as president during a period of change for the world. THe soviet Union was dissolving, the Berlin Wall collapsing, and the rise of terrorism. He had a bid for reelection, but he lost. As of recent years, he has a 60 percent positive rating. -
