T. Raymond Thompson and John Simmons develop the first business computer, the Lyons Electronic Office (LEO). I chose this event because it was an example of how people could use their computer in their line of work. -
Silicon Chip
The first integrated circuit, or silicon chip, is produced by the US Jack Kilby & Robert Noyce. I chose this event because we still use silicon chips today in our computers. -
Word Processor
IBM introduces the first word processor. This is an important event because we use word processor every day in our lives. -
PDP-8
Digital Equipment Corp. came out with the PDP-8, the first commercially successful minicomputer. I chose this event because it improved the speed, made it smaller, and was priced pretty reasonably. -
