    Family settled in Malaysia
    1st historical event. Family had moved to Malaysia away from Myanmar for safety and in the same year a cyclone had hit Myanmar and killed 138,373 people. Which is now the 7th deadliest cyclone of all time.
  • I was born.

    I was born.
    I was born on June 27 - 2nd daughter of the family.
  • Pregnant Mom

    My mom got pregnant and named the baby Joseph before he was even born.
  • Little brother is born.

    Joseph was born—the baby of the family.
  • Family settled in America.

    Family settled in America.
    My family started to get used to the new country and my parents got an apartment for the family.
  • Started Preschool!

    This was the start of my long educational journey! My younger brother following along shortly.

    We moved out of our old apartment and lived in a new house in Kentwood.

    I learned to ride a bike for the first time by myself.

    This was the first time my parents and older siblings had experience the American lakes. They were used to swimming in rivers back in Malaysia.
  • Halloween!

    My first time Trick or Treatin'. I remember how important this event was to me. It was the only time I had felt like I was getting used to the American traditions.
  • Family's new church.

    My family moved into a new church and created many friendships that we didn't know would be so important to us.
  • Tommy was adopted.

    Tommy was adopted.
    My sister adopted a cat. The parents were not fond with it at first but eventually grew to enjoy the cat's presence.
  • Covid and Pandemic!

    Covid and Pandemic!
    Covid had hit our family. My family and I had to quarantine for 2 weeks at our home. This is the 2nd historical event because of how big, fast and worldwide the Covid-19 virus was spreading.
  • Online School.

    The Covid pandemic led schools to shut down and start online school. It was a challenging era for me and my siblings. At the end of this year, my friends and I presented a slideshow about a military coup in Myanmar that was formed on February 1 and caused violence and destruction in the country, and to this day continues—historical event 3.
  • All Moved In!

    All Moved In!
    My parents bought a house in Byron Center. This was a huge change in my life because of the shift from Kentwood to Byron Center. Byron Center was very different from Kentwood in so many ways- the people, education, teachers, etc.
  • Medical Help.

    I broke my ankle at my friends birthday party. I ended up with crutches and that impacted my school year and grades for a while.
  • My First Car!

    After Driver's Training, my parents gave me my own car. This was my first sign of my freedom.
  • Brother's Military Leave

    Brother's Military Leave
    My older brother, Jun, had to leave for 6 months into the military. It was a very upsetting but also exciting feeling for everyone.
