Opponents started a movement of their own. As protection. Called the "New Right."
1. Complete freedom to make money through business.
2. Get rid of public property (Parks & Schools).
3. Cut taxes for rich Americans.
4. Cut funding for public services. This did not help the poor, but helped the rich get richer. Regan became President and went against Civil Rights and Women's Rights. Closed many government agencies. -
Homeless
One million Americans became homeless. -

Senator Edward Kennedy (D - MA), introduced Civil Rights Act of 2008. -
Shelby County vs. Holder
Must get clearance from Congress to change voter rules to secure racial minorities against negative treatment. -
