1. Treaty of Paris
Treaty of Paris 1763 The treaty was signed to end the Seven Years' War aka the French and Indian war. The treaty stated that Britian got all of Northland America from the Mississippi river to the east coast. -
2. Proclamation Act
The Proclamation Act was established by King George lll. This act forbide settlement past the Appalachian Mountains. -
3. The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was created when the British Parlament created a tax on sugar and molassas act. Under the act the colonist had to pay 6 pence for a gallon of sugar or molassas. -
4. The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was a new tax that made the colonists pay a tax on every single piece of printed paper each of them used. -
5. Stamp Act Congress
The Stamp Act Congress was formed when the colonists weren't understanding how the whole tax thing worked. The main focus of the congress was "No taxation without representation!" -
6. Stamp Act Repealed
The Stamp Act Repealed The Colonists didn't support the Stamp Act because they considered it a violation of their rights to be taxed without their consent. There were many protests which became violent and the Colonists started to rebel. -
7. Declaratory Act
The Declaratory Act supported the repeal of the Stamp Act. Also it made laws binding the colonies. -
8. Townshend Act
The Townshend act was named after Charles Townshend. This act was a collection of revenue from the colonists. -
9. The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre occured when a patriot mob started to throw stones and other painful objects at the British soldiers. Many citizens were left dead after the massacre. -
10. Committee of Correspondence
The Committee of Correspondence were shadow governments. This set up the First Continental Congress. -
11. The Tea Act
The Tea Act was made to prop up the East India Company. There was tea shipped to the colonies to sell for profit, then eventually was spilled all over the Boston Harbor and eventually led to the Boston tea party. -
12. The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party occured after the colonists had enough of being unfairly taxed by Britain. The Sons of Liberty, led bby Samuel Adams, arranged for the boston tea party to take place to show Britain that the coloists were not going to be taxed without fair representation. -
13. The Intolerable Acts
The intolerable Act was put in place to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. -
14. 1st Continental Congress
Each colony sent delagates to vote for the president the colony wanted. The congress made choices for each of the colonies to create a democracy type of government. -
15. Declaration of Rights and Grievance
The Declaration of Rights and Grievances was written by the Stamp Act Congress. The document said that taxes on British colonists were unconstitutional. -
16. The Quartering Act
The Quartering Act required all colonists to house british soliders during time of war. -
17. Lexington and Concord
Lexington and Concord was where British General Gage set out to capture John Hancock and Samuel Adams. The colonists were on to General Gage's plans and Paul Revire made his infamous ride, while 2 lanterns were set in the church stating that the redcoats were coming by sea. -
18. The Battle of Bunker Hill
The Battle of Bunker Hill occured when 2,200 british forces came to America on the Charleston peninsula. The colonists waited until the red coats came through before they began to fire at them. Eventually the colonists and the red coats engaged in had to hand combat and the British ended up wining that battle. -
19. Olive Branch Petition
The Olive Branch petition was a final attempt to avoid war between the Thirteen Colonies and Great Britain. Eventually the petition became rejected. -
20. Common Sense
Common Sense, written by Thomas Paine challenged the authority of the British government. This book was the first work to openly ask for independance from Great Britain. -
21. Declaration of Independence
Declaration of IndependenceThe colonists created the Declaration of Independence when they were tired of being controlled by the british government. As a result the colonys gained their independance from Britian.
