Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party is a group of protesters to the tax on tea, made with Townshend Acts. On May 10, 1733, they took one boat full of tea and dumped it into the bay; Britain was not happy.

Sugar and Molasses Act of 1733
The first Sugar & Molasses Act started on May 17, 1733, and ended on June 24, 1733. This act included taxes on rum, sugar, and molasses. The British made this law before the French and Indian War but was stopped. To give you an example of the act, you had to pay 6 pence more per gallon of Molasses.

Currency Act of 1751
The Currency Act happened several times, first starting in 1751. Unfortunately, it is unknown of the dates of this first Currency act. This act one made the colonist use British money. It helped pay for the French and Indian war.

Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation of 1763 was created by King George 3rd and was issued on October 7, 1763, and there is no official date of the ending. This proclamation kept the colonists to move West. This was after the French and Indian war, so they had an excuse to keep them away from the Indians. The real reason was to keep the colonist in the area that they could collect taxes. This is the second Sugar & Molasses Act. It was brought back to pay for the French and Indian War. The second act started on April 5, 1764, and ended September 29, 1764.

The Currency Act of 1764
The currency act of 1764 is the second of the 2 currency acts. This act was to also use British money. This helped pay for the French and Indian war and the Revolutionary war. It started September 1, 1764, and there is no official date for the ending date.

Stamp Act
The one and only Stamp Act started in 1765 by Britain. This was the first tax after the French and Indian war. This act put a tax on all paper documents. It started on March 22, 1765, and ended on November 1, 1765.

Quartering Act of 1765
The Quartering Act of 1765 must have been the worst act yet. This act required families to live with soldiers. They had clean their clothes, make their meals, provide their beds, let them live in their house and etc. Worst of all, they even didn’t get paid! This started on May 15, 1765, and it ended 11 years later on March 34, 1776.

Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts was five acts that were passed. To name a few, New york Restraining Act, Ed Court Act, and etc. They all occurred in 1767. Basically, Britain wanted to raise taxes on imports without the colonists knowing. Britain thought this would make the colonists become more loyal to Britain.

Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was on March 5, 1770, consisted of the killings of 5 people by British soldiers. It was not as “Mass”ive as it sounded like. This created anger and the colonies and lead to the hatred of Great Britain.

Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were a group of acts on Massachusetts as punishment after the Boston Tea Party. These acts were all made in 1774. Britain took away Massachusetts self-government and historic rights. Also, Britain incorporated the Quartering Act as a punishment. Massachusetts was not happy about this.

First Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress was first held in Pennsylvania to discuss the issues about Britain and how to fix them. 56 delegates attended from September 5-October 26 in 1774. 12 out of the 13 states attended, that is about 4-5 people per state. Georgia decided not to attend because they didn't want Britain to be mad at them.

Battles of Lexington and Concord
The Battles of Lexington and Concord were held on the same day on April 19, 1775. This was the 1st military engagements during the Revolutionary War. Paul Revere rode his ride that night to warn the colonists and the minutemen. Due to the minutemen's work to protect their new country, the colonies were saved.
