My first book
My first book was a gift from my Grandma. She gave me the book the day my mom brought me home from the hospital. It was a giant book of fairytales. She read the stories to me from the time I was 2 days old to 2 years old. -
My first picture book
I got my first picture book for Christmas when I was 4 years old. This book was Clifford the Big Red Dog. I remember begging my parents to read these books to me every single night before I went to bed. I also tried to convince my parents to let me get a red dog so I could name him Clifford. -
Learning how to read independently

Falling out of love with Reading

The turning point
This turning point in my life changed the way I looked at reading. I had to write a short story for my senior project in high school and fell in love with what I could write on a page, and potentially turn into a book. I realized on this day that I didn't hate reading, I was just reading the wrong kind of books that didn't relate to me. -
My saving Grace
I remember this day like it was yesterday. Not only was it my birthday, but it was a day where I was really struggling with my mental health. My brother gave me this book to read and journal in and it saved me. -
Reading with a passion
My favorite books to read as an adult and as a future teacher are the ones that help me understand and connect with my students. My dream is to be an Autism teacher. I try to read a new book about Autism every month or so to deepen my understanding and expand my knowledge about Autism
