First Persians Migrated to Canada
The first Persians immigrated to Canada during the Second World War. There were about a dozen in the country. Before the 70's, the Persian migration to Canada was mostly for educational, economic, or investment opportunities. -
My Father's Birthday
My father was born into a loving family in Abadan, Iran. He grew up with 4 brothers and 4 sisters. His father was a chef and his mother was a housewife. He had a very happy childhood. There was no television until he was 9 years old. -

Islamic Revolution of Iran
At the time, my father was 17 at the time. Persians were not happy with the situation and they were looking for a change. My father, like millions of Persians, participated in demonstrations and protests which lead to the change of the regime and the overthrow of the Shah, though it is clear now that outcome was not as expected. -

Iran-Iraq War
The Iran-Iraq War took place on the Iran and Iraq border. In Iran, the war was mainly in the province of Khuzestan, where my parents and my eldest brother who was a baby lived. My father was involved in helping wounded soldiers and civilians and on numerous occasions was on the edge of death. -
My Family Moved to Canada
Other than my uncle who had moved to Canada 2 years before us, my family was the first members of our family to move to Canada. My father, mother, 2 brothers, and I flew to Canada and landed in Pearson Airport, Toronto. A friend greeted us upon landing and we stayed at their house for 2 weeks until we rented an apartment. -
Family Rented and Moved into Appartment
After 2 weeks of arriving in Canada and living with friends, my family moved to an appartment in Etobicoke. My father was working hard with his temporary jobs. The family was disappointed by the situation as we believed the situation was going to be better. -
My Father Started Working at Holcim
My father started working at Holcim Canada Inc. as a process engineer. He currently is working for Holcim Canada Inc. as an automative engineer. This was an important time for our family as we needed to stabilize our situation in Canada so we could make sure we were going to stay. -
Moved to Oakville
After 2 years of living in our appartment in Etobicoke, our family moved to a townhouse on Sixth Line in Oakville. The area was better than in Etobicoke. I attended Munn's Public School and my brothers went to White Oaks Secondary School. -
Family Became Canadian Citizens
My father, mother, two brothers and I became Canadian citizens on July 1, 2004. -
Moved to Current Home
After 5 years of living in our townhouse on Sixth Line, our family moved to our current house. I attended Westoak Public School for 4 years and am currently attending Garth Webb Secondary School. My brothers both worked for some time; one as a photographer and the other as a chef. They are both currently attending Ryerson University in Toronto.
