    Indian Muslims, who were the minority felt a need for a Muslim nation to protect their rights. Violent uprisings happened Calcutta, Bengal, and Amritsar were devastating. These violent actions made the British to plan to partition India. In August 15, 1947, when India became independent it was celebrated in two different capitals Delhi and Karachi.

This sparked the concerns of Hindu-nationalists in the fear of Gulf states converting to Islam. Some reports back then even reported Hindu might become a monority.
