Colombus was rejected by Portugal so he then went to Spain to look for someone to sponsor his trip to find a route by sailing west. He was granted money by Queen Elisabeth and her husband to take his trip. -

Clombus took a 2nd voyage for Spain in 1493. He traveled back to the Puerto Rica in hope to conquer Taino tribe and build colonies. -

Circumnaviagting
Ferdinand Magellan left from Spain to find a route around south America. His trip took much longer than he expected and he ended up dying on the trip around the world along with much of his crew. About 18 members made it back to Spain, they were the first poeple to circumnavigate the world. -

A priest did not agree with the Encomienda system and fought against it for many years. He finally won and the new laws were created saying that its forbidden to enslave Native Americans.
