The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a period of time when writers and philosphers described new ways of governing the country. They began criticizing the ways of the French goverment and comparing it to those of the English, Chinese, and American.

Oath of the Tennis Court
This oath was an oath of allegiance that stated that the Third Estate would not secede from the Assembly until a constitution had been written. This oath was proposed by Mounier and signed by 557 Third Estate members. -
Storming of the Bastille
A crowd of Parisians decided it would take violence to get the government's attention. It is indefinete to say if this crowd created a riot and took over the Bastille because the price raise on bread or if it was to help the Estates General from being banned by royalty. -

The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen was a legal document created by the National Assembly of France stating the inalienable rights of the French men and citizens. It is based off the English Magna Carta and American Declaration Of Independence. -
Women's March on Versailles
People were fed up of the rise in the price of bread. A group of angry women created a huge bread riot on Versailles, an important event leading up to the French Revolution. -
Storming of the Tuileries Palace
A mob of Parisian citizens marched towatd the Tuileries Palace to seek vengeance with the King. Although they found no king they murdered all the people within the castle walls. -
Execution of King Louis XVI
King Louis XVI was charged for crimes against the people. His last words claim that the crimes he was executed for are ones he never committed.He was escorted to his death by 1,200 soldiers. -

Reign of Terror
The Reign of Terror was a time of violence where people where being executed starting with King Louis XVI and ending with the man who started the Reign of Terror,
Maximilien Robespierre. Approximately 30,000 people lost their lives under the blade of the guilitoine.
Guilitione was the popular method used to execute people during this time. -
Execution of Marie Antoinette
Marie Antoinette was queen of France during the French Revolution. She was brutally criticized by the public and blamed for most of the country's financial problems. She was put on trial by the public and charged for treason. She was executed on the guillotine, a famous way of execution during this period. -
Napoleon's Coup D' E'tat
Napoleon and the Directory conspire to take over the French government, this is known as the 18th Brumaire and it was successful.
