Communists Take Over China
After the Japanese invaded China there was a civil war between Nationalists and Communists, and deciding how China's government should rule. United States aided the Nationalists. But by 1945 communists controlled a lot of northern China. In 1949 the communists leader, Mao Zedong, gained control of the country. -
Iron Curtain Speech
Germany was split into East Germany and West Germany. Soviets controlled the eastern part and half of Berlin. The western parts became the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949. -
Truman Doctrine
They tried to stop communism from spreading by offering money to countries who rejected becoming communists. Turkey and Greece received $400 million. -

Cuban Missile Crisis
This was a dangerous confrontation between United States and the Soviet Union. United States found out they had missile in Cuba. This caused a close nuclear conflict. -

Revolution in Czechoslovakia
Alexander Dubcek, put an end to press censor. The revolution started in Moscow. Invasion of Big Brother, there was a peaceful resistance and government buildings were targeted. Dubcek was not executed. -
Cultural Revolution
The Red Guards plan was to create a society where everyone was equal. Colleges and schools got shut down by them, and in order to be "purified" you had to work everything off. People who resisted were executed or imprisoned. In 1968, Mao ordered th army to stop the Red Guards.
