Christopher Columbus was born, sometime from August 22 to october 31, 1451. As a child he heard about an explorer named Marco Polo and decided to follow in his steps. He was born in Genoa, Italy. -

Columbus First Voyage
In 1476 Columbus went on his first voyage into the Atlantic Ocean. He almost died when his ship was attacked by French privateers off the coast of Portugal. He had to swim to the Portugese shore when they burned his ship. He then stayed in Lisbon, Portugal. He met and married his wife Felipa Perestrello. -

In 1477 he had sailed over all of the Mediterranean sea. He was only 26. He sailed to England and even Iceland. Before that he had particapated in many trading voyages. -

Columbus gets married.
Columbus was married to Felipa Peresrello around 1480.Soon after they were married Felipa died. He had a son named Diego around the same time. When Diego was older he went on a lot of voyages with his father. -

Columbus finds New world
In 1492 Columbus set off on his voyage to find trade routes for the Spanish. His ships were the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. He was looking for westward trade routes to Asia, China and India. Very many days later, on October 12th,1492 they found land. They thought it was Asia but it was really the New World. -

Christopher Columbus died on May 20, 1506. He died in Valladolid, Spain. He died of natrual causes. There are rumars that he died from a disese. He was only 54. -

In May of 1607, Henry Hudson started off on his first voyage. He was looking for a northern passage to the Orient. He sailed on an 80 ton ship called Hopewell. He ended up returning from this voyage in September after his route was blocked by ice. He discovered Whale's Bay on this voyage. -

Hudson's Final Voyage
Hudson set sail on his final voyage in the spring of 1610. He was captain of the ship Discovery. On this voyage he traveled to Iceland and Greenland and finally ending up in the Hudson Bay. They explored Hudson Bay until June 1611. His crew wanted to return home so they took over the ship and left Hudson, his son and six crew members to die. -
