    Albany Plan of Union
    This plan proposed a unification of the colonies. Met in Albany, New York, and had more than 20 representatives from northern and mid-Atlantic colonies.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    A crowd gathered around crown-appointed officials and verbally abused and harrassed them. Soldiers fired into a mob in Boston, instantly killing 3 citizens and wounding others.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    After British officials refused to return 3 ship loads of tea to Britain, a groupd of colonists boarded the ships and destryed it by throwing it into the Boston harbor. They did this to protest taxes.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    Met in Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia from September 5 to October 26 1774. All colonies except Georgia attended. Used to show a combined authority to Great Britain.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    Adopted the Declaration of Independence. Georgia once again did not participate. However, they decided to after the American Revolution started.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    Adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. Announced that the 13 colonies declare themselves as states, independant from Britain.
  • Articles of Confederation

    Articles of Confederation
    Agreement between the 13 founding states that established the USA as a confederation of soverign states. It served as America's first constitution.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    An armed uprising that took place in central and western Massachusetts in 1786 and 1787. It was caused by many things such as debt, post-war economic depression, and a fiscally hard government.
