The result was the immediate removal of Tsar Nicholas II, the end of the Romanov dynasty,and the Russian Empire. The Tsar was replaced by a Russian Provisional Government. A conference between a Russian delegation, headed by Leon Trotsky and German and Austrian Representatives began at Brest-Litovsk. Trotsky’s goal was to end Russian participation in the First World War but he also didn’t want to give any land to the Central Powers. Before he had to sign the Treaty, Trotsky hoped that by employing delaying tactics that the socialist revolutions would spread from Russia to Germany and Austria-Hungary. -

Tsar Nicholas Second AbdicatedTsar Nicholas the second is forcibly abdicated from his throne by Petrograd insurgents, who ruled since May 26, 1894. Tsar Nicholas II led Russia into a costly war leaving Russia without enough food, soldiers tired of war, and defeats, which proved Nicholas II to be unable to successfully rein the throne. In replacement for him not being on throne a provincial government was formed. -

All About the Kerensky Offensive
Named after Alexander Kerensky, the Kerensky Offensive was the last Russian Offensive of World War I. Armies involved were the Russian army and the Austro-German South army. The Russian Army started out strong but started to lose confidence as the offensive was brought to a halt. Russian lines were broken through when the reinforcements were sent in and a seven hour attack assembled causing the Russians to flee. -

StalinThe Central Commitee of Bolsheviks was a communist party that controled all government activities. Leaders were elected every 5 years. It was the supreme authority of the party. During the election Stalin actually recieved many negative votes, the actual number isn't known, but he covered it up and said that he only recieved 3 negative votes. -

Although most say that the war technically started in 1918, a bitter fight took place in October of 1917 that kick-started the war. The foundation of the war was built upon the fact that the Bolshevik government clearly wanted a dictatorship but anti-bolsheviks did not want this and wanted to overcome the Bolsheviks. -

Lenin agreed to overthrow the Provisional Government and that day the Bolsheviks went into railroad stations,telephone exchange and the State Bank. Bolsheviks Gain Control/"Bloodless Coup"
Bolsheviks Gain PowerOctober 25th through 26th was when the Bolsheviks took control of the government without a lot of bloodshed in the process. The provisional government flooded and Lenin took office as the chairman of council of People’s Commissar and head of government. The land in this process was taken away from the Church and Nobles and given to the peasants. All non-Bolshevik papers were banned. -
Bulshevik troops open fire on protesting workers
Workers protesting at food shortages in the town of Kolpino were shot at by the Bulshevik troops. This once again made the citizens support for the government lessen as this was another event where there was absolutley no regard for normal citizens lives. This was a nasty display of brute force and not caring for its citizens well being. -
Poland Invades Russia
This was part of the Polish-Soviet war. The Poles wanted part of their land back that they had lost during WW I and the Soviets wanted to spread their new communism to the rest of Western Europe. The Bolsheviks wanted to make peace with poland and were taken by surprise by the attacks. -
Vladimir Lenin Dies
More InformationVladimir Lenin played a huge role in the Bolshevik Revolution. Lenin consolidated Bolshevik power as quickly as he could. He altered some groups into the Russian Communist Party. Lenin decided to re do the economy to match up with the Marxist guidelines. Lenin assisted other revolutionaries to establish the Communist International or Comintern. He did all of these tasks before and some during some health issues. Lenin fought through three strokes, but 10 months after the third stroke he died. -

More InformationSince Trotsky helped win the civil war people assumed that he would take the spot of Vladimir Lenin. Lenin and Trotsky worked closely together throughout the war. When Trotsky kept the revolution going it gave him many enemies in the Communist Party. Stalin had won the support of the people who hated Trotsky. Stalin winning these people helped give him the control in 1927 and got Trotsky kicked out of the Communist Party. A Stalinist agent later murdered Trotsky. -

This movie directed by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman is based on the true story but is very fictional, and has minimal similarity to the true story.
